This book I read is Newton and the Giant written by Micheal McGowan. This funny, heroic and suspenseful fictional novel is about a boy named Newton who discovers a magical land of the Merriwarts, and seeks help from friends to stop the evil plot of a giant. Newton visits Witch Hazel to restore his imagination and give him a map to the portal that leads to the Merriwarts. My favourite thing about the book is that Newton's action figure (Joe) comes to life and starts making jokes and only Newton can hear him!!

There is nothing that I really don't like about this book; I think it has no flaws. The only other main character is Herbert, the giant, who helps Newton on his quest. Kids ages 8-12 would enjoy this book beacause it's at that reading level. I would rate this book 8/10 stars for interest.
